Inspired by the vibrant local businesses along Missoula's iconic Hip Strip, Hip Strip Hijinks presents a series of five new 10-minute plays written by nationally renowned playwrights. Patrons will meet up at GILD Brewing and then walk to five nearby establishments, including the lively atmosphere of Betty’s Divine and the eclectic vibes of Ear Candy, to watch plays that are designed to capture the essence of their host businesses and to offer an immersive and theatrical experience after hours.
What the Constitution Means to Me, starring Kelly Quinnett (Go, Please, Go, and Reentry), is a powerful exploration of our nation's founding document through the lens of four generations of women. At its core is the story of fifteen-year-old Heidi, whose journey to fund her college education by winning Constitutional debate competitions unfolds with humor and hope. The play breathes new life into the Constitution, examining its profound impact on the lives of Americans and its enduring relevance in shaping our nation's future.
The Odyssey adapted by Briandaniel Oglesby
The Odyssey follows the journey of Odysseus as he encounters Cyclops, sirens, and more on his 10-year voyage home after the Trojan War. Oglesby’s adaptation condenses this sprawling tale into a fast-paced, slapstick comedy performed by a small ensemble of three actors playing dozens of characters. Through imaginative storytelling and physical comedy, the play captures the poetry and tragedy of the original work while making it accessible to modern audiences. NEW PLAY WORKSHOP
CAN’T DRINK SALT WATER

The Rep continues its mission of developing new works with a New Play Workshop that voices the ongoing tragedy of missing and murdered indigenous women (MMIW). Can't Drink Salt Water, by local indigenous playwright Kendra Mylenchuk Potter [Lummi], Is about how a daughter goes missing and how a mother reaches beyond her human limits to try and find her. Can’t Drink Salt Water asks where we go when we can't stay in our bodies. Can’t Drink Salt Water will be workshopped Nov 13-17 on the University of Montana campus and culminate in a public reading in the Montana Theatre on Sunday, November 19th, at 4:00 pm.
